Toi Te Ora Public Health: Better health and wellbeing in the workplace

Chamber Member, Toi Te Ora Public Health is running a number of free workshops this May through their WorkWell programme, to help support employers and employees with their mental health.

WorkWell is a free, publicly funded workplace wellbeing initiative, supporting workplaces to ‘work better through wellbeing’. Their goal is to assist businesses in creating happier, healthier, and more productive workplaces.

With guided support and mentoring from an assigned advisor, businesses are provided with simple resources, workshops, and networking opportunities.

WorkWell is aimed at medium to large workplaces. However, the programme is easily adaptable to most workplaces across New Zealand. The benefits for your staff and workplace include:

For your staff

  • Improved health and wellbeing
  • Increased energy, motivation, and job satisfaction
  • Better work-life balance
  • Decreased risk of injury and/or illness

For your workplace

  • Increasing productivity
  • Decreasing absenteeism
  • Improving staff morale and resilience

For the month of May, WorkWell will host a series of interactive workshops around the topic of ‘Planning for Mental Wellbeing at Work’.

The latest workshop series is targeted to those in positions of leadership, or who are responsible for the health and wellbeing of their workforce. The workshop will equip workplaces with practical tips and information to enhance wellbeing at the individual, team, and organisational levels.

In these workshops, you will learn how work impacts on mental health, identify protective and risk factors, and identify initial steps required to create an action plan that supports mental wellbeing at work.

Included in the sessions will be practical activities and tools allowing you to identify what your workplace needs, who should be involved and ways to find solutions.

WorkWell also provides a number of support resources for workplaces. You can access these here.
