Event Recap: BWN Christmas Celebration Lunch with Crimson Organic

Thanks to all the women who joined us for a delicious lunch and to hear from the inspiring Vicki Scott, founder of Crimson Organic, at the BWN Christmas Celebration Lunch this December.

Crimson Organic was created by Vicki through a desire to offer busy women a better, easier way to minimise the chance of being “caught out”. While juggling her job as a lawyer with the demands of family life and volunteer work, she decided there had to be a smarter way to access and purchase period care that ensured supplies when she needed them. Vicki did her homework and soon discovered conventional tampon brands contained chemicals, toxins, pesticides, and synthetics. She learned they can place women’s health at risk and damage our environment. This propelled her to find the safest tampon available; 100% pure certified organic cotton tampons.

But her story doesn’t end there. As part of her role as a lawyer, Vicki came into contact with many women in the criminal justice system and, when she would visit them in their homes, she often found they couldn’t afford the very basics like toilet paper, soap, tampons, and pads. Furthermore, she found many of her homeless clients didn’t have regular access to shower facilities, and this was her motivation for choosing tampons over pads as a more sanitary option.

Crimson Organic believes safe period products are a fundamental human right and no woman should have to choose between food for her family and period care. So, to help alleviate period poverty you can donate a box of tampons to a woman in need via a partnership organisation. For more info and to donate visit the website.

It was a truly inspirational event. Thank you to all who came along, and a big thank you to BWN Committee Members Gillian Johnston (Sprout Customer Research) and Annemarie Hills (Craigs Investment Partners) for MCing, and to Vicki for sharing her story.

From all of us at the Chamber have a Merry Christmas, and a safe and happy New Year; and save the date for our BWN Speaker Series on June 23 next year.
