Chamber Charity: September is Wills Month

Two Chamber Members are holding Free Will campaigns as part of Wills Month this September.

Acorn Foundation and Waipuna Hospice are working with local law firms (many of whom are also Chamber Members) to give people the chance to get their will drawn up for free in exchange for a gift to Acorn or Waipuna Hospice in your Will.

Find out more below (content supplied by the respective not-for-profits):

Acorn Foundation

Add Acorn to your existing Will for free this September with our partner law firms.

Thanks to the generosity of our partner law firms, this September it is even easier to make a lasting gift to the causes you care about in our local community.

Throughout September, the law firms listed below will allow you to make a simple change to your existing Will to include a gift to Acorn Foundation – at no charge.

Any additional Will changes will be charged at the law firm’s usual rate.

Leaving a gift to the Acorn Foundation enables you to make a bigger impact in your local community. Unlike a one-off donation to a specific charity, gifts given through the Acorn Foundation’s Smarter Giving Model are invested in perpetuity, generating income that is distributed annually to community organisations in the Western Bay of Plenty. This means that a gift from a generous donor will continue to give back to the causes close to your heart – forever!

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, since Acorn was established in 2003, we have distributed over $8.3m to communities in the Western Bay of Plenty. This funding has supported hundreds of charitable organisations that are important to our donors and are vital to our region’s well-being. We currently have over $53m in funds under management with Craigs Investment Partners, meaning we will continue to give back to our local community, year after year.

We are grateful to each of the participating firms below for supporting our mission to make an enduring difference in our community, by connecting generous people who care with causes that matter – forever.

Wills Month - someone signing a will

Waipuna Hospice

For a limited time, Waipuna Hospice and local solicitors who have volunteered their expertise are offering you the chance to make a lasting difference in your community with a Free Will.

Simply select a participating solicitor and they’ll draw up a basic Will or amendment to an existing Will, or a memorandum of wishes in the case of a Family Trust.

In return, they would ask that you leave a bequest gift to Waipuna Hospice in your Will to help ensure Waipuna Hospice is here to support future generations. Your financial advisor or solicitor will be able to advise you according to your circumstances. Whether you have a little or a lot to contribute, it all helps.

To receive a voucher for your basic Free Will call 0800 4 WAIPUNA (0800 492 478) or email info@waipunafortomorrow.org.nz before Monday, 20 September 2021.
