Women in leadership: Fiona McTavish

Despite still receiving letters addressed to ‘Dear Sir’, chief executive of the Bay of Plenty Regional Council, Fiona McTavish, says the world is changing for women in leadership positions.

With women making up a large portion of the council’s senior team, and pathways for development hot on Fiona’s radar, the future of women in business (and women in leadership roles) is something she takes seriously.

We had a chat to Fiona to discuss her role as CE and what it involves, some of the challenges and triumphs she has faced in her career, and how women in business can better support each other to succeed.

You can watch the full interview below.

We are hosting a Business After 5 event with BOP Regional Council and Fiona on Wednesday, February 3 at Regional House, 1 Elizabeth Street, to take a deep dive into the inner workings of the council.
