Member Profile: Aroha Tahau (Ray White Real Estate)

Meet Aroha Tahau, real estate agent with Ray White Papamoa.

Aroha has spent the last five years living in France while her partner played rugby, before they have moved home to the Mount (the best place in the world, she says!) to dive into her passion of real estate.

We ask our Chamber Member a quick fire Q&A to introduce her to the business community.

Tell us a bit about your background – your career to date, your experience… basically, how what you have done has got you to where you are today.

Moving to the Mount, and having a Bachelor of Communications, I thought I would return to the role I loved and previously held with MediaWorks in marketing and advertising.

However, after having a family, it was the flexibility that real estate offers, plus still running a people and relationship-based business, that attracted me to working with Ray White.

I have been investing in property since the age of 23 and pursued ongoing real estate education during my time spent overseas. These personal property experiences, and my previous 10 years in the media industry, offers clients a solid base of knowledge when it comes to the management of buying and selling their homes.

When did you start your business? How long have you been operating?

I have been investing in property since the age of 23, however, it is only in March this year that I have started my real estate sales career.

Why did you start your own business?

For me, real estate gives me flexibility around my family, while still allowing me to maintain a career where relationships and people are the focus.

What makes your business unique?

My role in real estate is REAL. I am a mum to 1.5 (soon to be two) children and partner to a pretty decent footy player, who recently has been the world’s most epic stay-at-home dad and crayfish diver.

We are moving house, renovating, navigating parenthood and getting in as many weekend brunches as possible (this was substituted for homemade scrambled eggs on baguette while living in France so heading out for flat whites and brekkie is still an absolute novelty).

What’s the one misconception people might have about your industry?

Minimal work for maximum pay haha. Certainly not the reality of things.

What’s the one thing you want people to know about your business?

Capitalise on my unique combination of personal property experience, work in the New Zealand media/marketing industry and REAL dynamic success driven energy.

For me, adding value and maximum benefit to your real estate buying or selling process is the standard. Providing solutions even before you realise they are necessary is an example of how you will experience my level of real estate service.

I have built a solid team of people around me – including tradespeople, lawyers, accountants, home stagers, mortgage brokers and more. Working with me means a strong network of people all working to exceed your expectations of buying and selling real estate.

What are your goals (personal and professional) for the next six to 12 months?

My goal in my first year of real estate is to generate a minimum of 12 listings and sell them!

Personally, I want my family to happily settle back into life in New Zealand after living abroad for so long.

When you’re not at work, how do you like to spend your time?

Having fun with my family. Park visits, eating out, boating trips and rugby games.
