The constitution sub-committee was asked to review the Tauranga Chamber of Commerce constitution to update it and consider the board size.
Tauranga Chamber of Commerce has reviewed the constitution and as such has undertaken the following actions:
- Evaluated board size to optimise effectiveness
- Streamlined the Board selection process to optimise Board cohesion and effectiveness
- Updated the constitution in preparation for the expected changes to the Incorporated Societies Act (1908)
- Updated the document to reflect current and best practices
- General language tidy up.
The document has been finalised with the assistance of Holland Beckett Law.
The next step is to consult with members in regards to the proposed changes before the AGM. If there are no significant concerns around the changes, the constitutional will be put forward at the 2020 AGM for approval and adoption.
If accepted, the in-coming Board for 2020 will sit for a period of 10 months. Then, at the 2021 AGM, all roles on the Board will then be open for nomination and election.
The Tauranga Chamber of Commerce Board approve the proposed changes and the plan for consultation, with the constitution to be presented for approval at the 2020 AGM.
