Are you interested in becoming a mentor?
Very few small business people find the time to work on developing their business. One answer when a small business is growing or needs to deal with challenges is a mentor.
New Zealand is an economy of small businesses. 86% of registered businesses employ less than five people. The key challenge is isolation - not having people around to bounce ideas off and learn from.
Business Mentors New Zealand mentors share their ideas and expertise from a business perspective one-on-one. The service is confidential and provided to small businesses that have been trading for six months, is the owner’s primary source of income and employs less than 25 employees.
Our business mentors have a genuine desire to make a difference to your small business. They are not paid for their time, but are committed individuals who derive satisfaction from putting their expertise back into the small business community.
Through Business Mentors New Zealand, our mentors are matched to your business needs and provide one-on-one mentoring at an agreed venue. The costs of running the scheme are met by sponsoring partners, together with a client registration fee of $100+GST.
A mentor can be secured by simply visiting www.businessmentors.org.nz to complete an application form, selecting an area of expertise required.
Following your request for a mentor, a Business Mentors New Zealand agent will contact you to discuss your requirements and what you’re looking for in a mentor before matching you with a mentor for your particular business needs.
Expect a fresh perspective, a solution to a specific business issue or helpful advice. Prepare to be challenged! A mentor is not there to do the work for you and will expect you to define your business issues, communicate your expectations and be open to feedback.
The duration of mentoring will depend on your business requirements – most situations can be resolved on average within three to five mentoring sessions.
