Rocket History
Towards the end of 2001, a small group began work on a concept that revolved around providing opportunities for younger business-orientated people. Working with the Tauranga Chamber of Commerce, we organised a few brainstorming sessions and invited any young people we could find to run the idea past them.
Through these informal sessions it became pretty obvious that there was a lot of interest in getting something going. We were also pretty keen to do our bit to help enhance the reputation of Tauranga as a city with buzz and attitude. With some hard work behind the scenes ‘ROCKET: career and enterprise inspiration’ was born. Our first event was held in April 2002 and things took off from there!
Because we ‘fine young things’ get around a bit, we are always looking for new Rocketeers, helpers and committee candidates! If you are interested in getting involved in Rocket ‘behind the scenes’ or have some comments or suggestions, please email rocket@tauranga.org.nz
